Our History
- The Magnolia Hotel & Spa was designed to fit into Victoria’s old town district. In fact in 1999 the building was the proud winner of the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Commercial Building Award for Excellence.
- While the Magnolia was built in 1997 from the bottom up, the history of our site goes back to the early 1900’s.
- The Magnolia Hotel & Spa is actually the combination of the new hotel building at 623 Courtney St., and an original building at 625 Courtney St. (erected in 1912.)
- Among the businesses that have occupied our space were book publishers and binders, printers and engravers, early cars rentals, a paving company – even a banjo shop!
- The longest business on site was the Pro Patria Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion from 1926 – 1990.
